5 Boring Observations #50
Dear Reader,
It’s Wednesday. Welcome to the fiftieth edition of 5 Boring Observations. Let me also thank you for your patience, as it has been a full six weeks since the last dispatch of this (mostly) weekly newsletter. To those concerned about whether boring things would continue to be observed, let this edition be your answer: they will.
First things first:
The previous poll is now, has been and forever will be, closed. The observation to emerge as most boring was:
“The word for that is ‘that’.”
And honestly, I can think of nothing further to add except: that’s that.
A thank you to all who voted and shared thoughts in the comments.
Without further ado, here are this week’s 5 boring observations:
Menus offer options.
Eyes get relied upon.
Letters frequent alphabets.
Some paper is 2 ply.
Attention gets snapped to.
The poll will be active for one week, if you need some time to think. Other than that, there’s some housekeeping below, followed by one boring photo.
Thank you very much for your time.
Sincerely,
Ikechukwu Ufomadu
Some Housekeeping:
I’m in a play this winter (the rehearsals for which kept me from making my regularly scheduled observations these past several weeks).
The play is a new version of Tartuffe written by Lucas Hnath and directed by Sarah Benson. It’s a stacked cast through and through, led by Matthew Broderick and David Cross. I may be biased, but I think it’ll be a production for the books.
Previews are already underway, with the official opening on December 15th. All this information (and more) can be found at this link right here.

Hi Ike! Remember me? ¨̮ Just moved over to Substack from Medium. Will be nice to keep up with your observations. Congrats on the show!
Hell yeah, Ike! Hope to catch the play. Critics are already raving about your costume change.
