Dear Reader,
Happy Wednesday, and welcome to the fourth edition of 5 Boring Observations.
The results are “in” as they say, and last week’s most boring observation was:
“A mayor is an official.”
As I reread this observation now, I find that I have nothing to add. The fact that a mayor is an official inspires no fresh thought or insight. Additionally, in reviewing last week’s results, I could discern no interesting trends or unexpected connections. For the first time since starting this newsletter four weeks ago, I think I’ve stumbled into a small pocket of absolute boredom. Oh — and here comes the yawn now.1 Incredible.
The only takeaway I can think of is that if you’re at a social function and find yourself in a conversation with someone that you’d like to get out of without seeming rude, you could try saying “A mayor is an official,” to hopefully make the other person so bored that they leave the conversation of their own accord. A sort of ice breaker-in-reverse.
Thanks once again to all who voted and shared thoughts in the comments.
Now, without further ado, here are this week’s 5 boring observations:
The alphabet ends with Z.
Bricks are hard.
1792 came one year before 1793.
A square is a rectangle.
A triangle is a triangle.
As ever, the poll will stay active for one week, should you need time to think it over. Other than that, there’s some housekeeping below, followed by one boring photo.
Thank you very much for your time.
Sincerely,
Ikechukwu Ufomadu
